Signs of Spring

Mild temperatures, sprinkles, and lots of sunshine have brought out the first flowers of spring; a daffodil, violets, redbud, and plum. We were lucky enough to receive one-half inch rain, but a gardener from the other side of town said, "What I poured out of the gauge wasn't enough to wet a cat's tongue." He will be seeing first flowers soon.

Enjoy the Process

To be a happy gardener, one must enjoy the process.

Not Much!

Not many plants have survived the extended freeze. Pictured below are some of the champions. Not included in the pictures are the alliums; onions, garlic, leeks, chives. They have almost all survived, even most of the onions recently transplanted.

Survivors pictured above are carrots and collards. The curly collards in the foreground are kale. The row on the left has young carrots and expired parsley and another type of kale.

The broccoli and cauliflowers all froze, but the cabbages might make it.

Hooray for the turnips! The champions!
