Today I purchased a scale, shown in the photo with some of the "volunteer" tomatoes. I will be able to be much more accurate with my recipes.
I also canned 4 pints and 3 1/2 pints of Tomatillo Relish. The red bell pepper and onions (not pictured)were purchased, but the tomatillos, green tomatoes, and 5 types of peppers came from the garden. I used the Picalilly recipe from Joy of Cooking to make a sweet relish. After chopping the vegetables and brining them overnight, I canned them today.
